78th Four Ball Championship

Monday - Wednesday, August 9-11, 2010

Championship Format: Four Ball Match Play. 32 teams of 2 players will constitute the Championship field. 1st and 2nd rounds on Monday, August 9. Quarter-final round on Tuesday, August 10; Semi-final and Championship matches on Wednesday, August 11. All matches 18 holes. Defending Championship team plus 31 other teams from two qualifying sites comprise the match play Championship field.

Qualifying Round Format: 18 Holes, Four Ball Stroke Play. Both qualifying sites are limited to first 72 teams entered. The number of teams that will qualify for the Championship at Somerset Hills will be announced in advance of the first qualifier and posted by the NJSGA. Qualifying site selections are listed below.

Entry Fee: $225.00 PER TEAM (includes lunch at qualifying site).

Entries Close: Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.

Team Handicap Limit: 14.0

Transportation: Motorized transportation and pull carts are PROHIBITED throughout this Championship. For teams which qualify for the Championship proper, caddies will be required.

Teams are formed by two male amateur golfers from the SAME NJSGA member club or course (public or private) whose combined USGA Handicap Index does NOT exceed 14.0. Entries are open to teams who meet ALL of the following regulations:

   a) Both entrants must possess UNQUESTIONABLE Amateur Status, as per USGA standards.
   b) Both entrants must meet ALL of these Handicap and Membership Requirements:
        1. Both entrants MUST possess an ACTIVE and VALID USGA Handicap Index as of the JULY 7, 2010 Handicap Revision through the SAME NJSGA Member Club or Course in good standing with the NJSGA (public or private).
        2. When combined, the team total Handicap Index cannot exceed 14.0.
        3. Both entrants MUST be in good standing AND appear on the Official Handicap Roster at the Club/Course to which they are affiliated at the TIME OF ENTRY. Both entrants must maintain their good standing and remain on the Official Handicap Roster (possess an active and valid USGA Handicap) at their member club/course through the Championship proper.
   c) If a player enters a NJSGA Championship from a public facility or a Club Without Real Estate, he MUST be a permanent resident of New Jersey.
   d) A competitor may only enter NJSGA events from ONE CLUB/COURSE in a calendar year. The club/course from which a competitor enters his first event of the calendar year is designated his club/course for that year. (Please be mindful of this condition if you plan to participate in this event.)

THOSE WHO DO NOT MEET ALL OF THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COMPETITION.

REFUND POLICY: NO REFUND SHALL BE ISSUED AFTER THE CLOSE OF ENTRIES except in the case of illness or injury as accompanied by a physician´s notice. In this case, entry fee will be refunded minus a $50.00 surcharge. If a player withdraws prior to the close of entries (regardless of reason), entry fee will be refunded minus a $50.00 surcharge. If a player does not gain entry into an event due to oversubscription, he will be refunded in full. No refunds shall be issued for any reason after the tournament start date. All requests for a refund must be initiated via telephone by contacting the NJSGA Tournament Department at 908-241-4653. ALL REFUNDS SHALL BE ISSUED VIA CHECK.

FINAL DECISION REGARDING ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRIES IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE NJSGA. THE NJSGA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT OR WITHDRAW AN ENTRY AT ANY TIME, BEFORE OR DURING A COMPETITION.
