109th NJSGA Amateur Championship

Championship & Qualifying Round Information:
CHAMPIONSHIP: The Championship at Montclair Golf Club will be 72 Holes, Stroke Play. Eighteen holes will be played on both Tuesday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 9. After the completion of 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 40 scorers (plus ties). Remaining players will compete on Thursday, June 10 in the final round of 36 holes; the Champion will be the player with the lowest 72 hole aggregate score. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a three-hole aggregate playoff will determine the winner, and should the tie persist, play will continue hole-by-hole until a winner is decided. The Championship field will consist 90 players, including those who are exempt from qualifying (see separate list of exemptions) plus those who advance from three separate one-day, eighteen hole qualifying rounds (plus ties).
QUALIFYING ROUNDS: Each qualifying rounds is 18 Holes, stroke play. Each qualifying site will be limited to the first 156 players whose entries are received by the NJSGA prior to the close of entries which is WEDNESDAY, MAY 12 at 5:00 p.m. ENTER EARLY; space is limited. Players may enter only ONE qualifier. The number of players (plus ties) that will advance from qualifying to the Championship proper will be posted on-site.
QUALIFYING ROUND SITES & DATES:
Burlington Country Club, Mount Holly – Thursday, May 20
Raritan Valley Country Club, Bridgewater – Monday, May 24
Apple Ridge Country Club, Mahwah - Wednesday, May 26
Entry Fee: $140.00 (includes lunch at qualifying site).
Entries Close: Wednesday, May 12 at 5:00 pm.
Transportation: Motorized transportation and pull carts are PROHIBITED throughout this Championship.
PRIZES:
The Edwin M. Wild Championship Trophy will be awarded to the Champion and shall be displayed at his home club for the ensuing year. Prizes awarded to the best ten finishers. Medalist award presented to low qualifier at each qualifying site.
Eligibility Requirements
Entrants who do not satisfy all of these conditions are not eligible to participate in this Championship.
Entries open to male amateur golfers who meet ALL of these requirements:
a) Amateur must possess UNQUESTIONABLE Amateur Status, as per USGA standards.
b) Amateur must meet ALL of these Handicap and Membership Requirements:
1. Entrant MUST possess an ACTIVE and VALID USGA Handicap Index of 7.0 or less, as of the MAY 12, 2010 Handicap Revision.
2. This Handicap Index must be through a NJSGA Member club or course (public or private) which is in good standing with the NJSGA. (Golfers that do not hold an active and valid Handicap Index through a NJSGA member facility are not eligible.)
3. Entrant MUST be in good standing AND appear on the Official Handicap Roster at the Club/Course to which he is affiliated at the TIME OF ENTRY. Entrant must maintain his good standing and remain on the Official Handicap Roster (possess an active and valid USGA Handicap) at his member club/course through the Championship proper.
c) If Amateur enters a NJSGA Championship from a public facility or a Club Without Real Estate, he MUST be a permanent resident of New Jersey.
d) A competitor may only enter NJSGA events from ONE CLUB/COURSE in a calendar year. The club/course from which a competitor enters his first event of the calendar year is designated his club/course for that year. (Please be mindful of this condition if you plan to participate in a team event.)
THOSE WHO DO NOT MEET ALL OF THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COMPETITION.
REFUND POLICY: NO REFUND SHALL BE ISSUED AFTER THE CLOSE OF ENTRIES except in the case of illness or injury as accompanied by a physician´s notice. In this case, entry fee will be refunded minus a $50.00 surcharge. If a player withdraws prior to the close of entries (regardless of reason), entry fee will be refunded minus a $50.00 surcharge. If a player does not gain entry into an event due to oversubscription, he will be refunded in full. No refunds shall be issued for any reason after the tournament start date. All requests for a refund must be initiated via telephone by contacting the NJSGA Tournament Department at 908-241-4653. ALL REFUNDS SHALL BE ISSUED VIA CHECK.
FINAL DECISION REGARDING ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRIES IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE NJSGA. THE NJSGA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT OR WITHDRAW AN ENTRY AT ANY TIME, BEFORE OR DURING A COMPETITION.
