Thrilling Four Ball Championship Goes Down to the Wire BERNARDSVILLE, N.J. (August 11, 2010). Like it was scripted, the championship match came down to the final putt on the final hole. When Michael Deo dropped a six footer for birdie on the 18th hole at Somerset Hills Country Club, he and Brian Komline capped a thrilling match against Domenic Gatto and Riley Powers with a 1-up victory in the 78th Four Ball Championship.

DiCinti Prevails in Tight Senior Amateur COLTS NECK, N.J. (August 7, 2010). Tom DiCinti was new to handling the pressure of the final nine in a major championship, while Jay Blumenfeld and Allan Small had been in that situation countless times. Yet when the last putt dropped at the 52nd NJSGA Senior Amateur Championship, DiCinti emerged as the winner, one stroke ahead of Blumenfeld and three ahead of Small. Read more>
Tsukiyama Becomes Youngest Women´s Amateur Champion WAYNE, N.J. (August 6, 2010). Fourteen year-old Kuriko Tsukiyama of Overpeck Golf Course made history yesterday. She became the youngest player to win the NJSGA Women’s Amateur Championship in the eighty-five year history of the event when she defeated five-time champion Sherry Herman of Hollywood Golf Club on the last hole of the championship match at North Jersey Country Club.

USGA News. Congratulations to NJSGA golfers Pete Barron and Tom Gramigna for making it through local qualifying for the U.S. Open. Barron, of Stone Harbor GC, led the field of qualifiers at Galloway National GC on May 11th with a two over par round of 73. Gramigna, of Tavistock CC, grabbed the last of five spots with his five-over 76. The local qualifiers advance to sectional qualifying at Canoe Brook CC.
MGA News. Veteran NJSGA golfer Jay Blumenfeld of Mountain Ridge CC finished second at the MGA Senior Amateur Championship on May 11th, held at North Shore CC in Glen Head, NY. Blumenfeld was the first round leader but was overtaken in the second round by Steve Rose of Fresh Meadow CC, who won by one stroke. Allan Small of Fairmount CC finished T3 and Bill Henry of Forsgate CC and Ron Vannelli of Metuchen G&CC finished T5.
