Michael Kosup of The Ridge at Back Brook Golf Club shot a 3-under par 69 to lead a field of 24 qualifiers into the 104^th New Jersey State Golf Association Amateur Championship today at the Mercer Oaks West Golf Course in West Windsor. The highlights of Kosup’s medalist round included shooting an even par front nine (36) compounded with his 3-under back 9 (33), with birdies on the 12^th, 14^th, 15^th, 17^th, and 18^th holes. Steve Shellock of Eagle Oaks Golf Club finished second, shooting a two-under par 70 at the par 72, 6850 yard Mercer Oaks West.

Today’s sectional qualifying round completes the final field for the 104^th NJSGA Amateur Championship to be conducted June 6 – 8 at the Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell. Allan Small of Fairmount Country Club will attempt to defend his title, and retain the Edwin M. Wild Championship Trophy in the 3 day, 72 hole stroke play event featuring many of New Jersey’s premier amateur golfers.
