Tim Burr of Somerset Hills
Country Club today shot a two-under par 70 (35-35) to capture medalist honors
in the third and final sectional qualifying round for the 85th New
Jersey State Golf Association / Lincoln-Mercury Open Championship at the par
72, 6950 yard Glenwood Country Club in Old Bridge. Despite a two-plus hour
weather delay, 28 qualifiers advanced to the Open Championship itself, which
will be held July 12-14 at the Fairmount Country Club in
Claiming low-amateur honors
was Ray Marchuk of Plainfield Country Club, who fired
a one-under par 71 (34-37). Jim Burke of Montammy, Mike
LaBrutto of Roxiticus, and
David Wedzik of Glenwood (all professionals) placed
in third place, both shooting an even-par 72.
