85^th NJSGA/Lincoln-Mercury Open Championship Qualifying Round

James Woods of Forsgate Country Club today shot a three-under par 67 to lead a field of 26 qualifiers into the 85^th New Jersey State Golf Association/Lincoln-Mercury Open Championship at the Spring Brook Country Club in Morristown. Woods led fellow professionals Chris Brooks of Concordia, Orist Wells of Pitman, and Dave Hunt of Fairmount who tied for second place in firing a one-over par 71. Stuart Greenberg of Ash Brook was today’s low amateur, shooting a three-over par 73. The Championship itself will be conducted July 12-14 at the Fairmount Country Club in Chatham.

Today’s sectional qualifying round was held at the par-70 (36-34) Spring Brook Country Club, and will be followed by two more sectional qualifying rounds; the second at Newton Country Club this Wednesday (June 22), and the final qualifying round at Glenwood Country Club next Monday (June 27). Qualifiers from these three sites will join a number of exempt participants in attempting to capture the C.W. Badenhausen Championship trophy, currently held by 2004 Champion Ed Whitman of Knickerbocker. The following is a complete listing of today’s 26 qualifiers:
