In the second of four sectional qualifying rounds for the 104th New Jersey State Golf Association Amateur Championship, Matt Kleinrock of Forest Hill Field Club captured medalist honors, shooting a one-under par 71 (36-35) today at the 6519, par 72 White Beeches Golf and Country Club in Haworth. Kleinrock led a field of 26 who will advance to play in the Championship itself, June 6-8 at the Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell.

 

In a five way tie for second place, Steven Boyd of Baltusrol, Rob Habeeb of Blue Heron Pines, Terry McBride of Arcola, William Ely of Lake Mohawk, and Gregg Angelillo of Montclair each shot a 2-over par 74.

 

Sectional qualifiers remaining include this Thursday’s (May 19) at Oak Hill Golf Club in Milford, and next Wednesday, May 25 at Mercer Oaks (West) in West Windsor. Qualifiers from each site will join those exempt from qualifying in playing for the Edwin M. Wild Championship trophy, currently held by defending Champion Allan Small of Fairmount Country Club.
