Fifteen year old Morgan Hoffmann of Arcola Country Club
today became the 84th winner of the New Jersey State Golf
Association/William Y. Dear Junior Championship at the par 72, 6550 yard
Rockaway River Country Club in Denville. Hoffmann’s overpowering 8 & 7
Championship win came at the expense of Gene Yang of Glenwood Country Club, who
last week captured the Metropolitan Golf Association’s Junior Championship. The
win for Hoffmann followed his semi-final victory over Michael Corbo of
In the Boys division, Anthony Aloi, 15, of Cranbury defeated Tom Gliozzo of Due Process, 3 & 2, to capture the 35th Boys Championship. Aloi’s decision over Gliozzo came on the heels of his 5 & 4 victory over David Brown of Architects in the morning’s semi-final match.
Both Champions will be entering their sophomore year in high
school; Hoffmann, a resident of
Next year’s Championship will be held at the Essex County Country Club in late July.
