In the second and final sectional qualifying round for the 73rd New Jersey State Golf Association Four Ball Championship, the team of Mike Minter and Robert Whartenby of Trenton Country Club carded a seven under par 65 to claim medalist honors at the par 72, 6632 yard Mendham Golf and Tennis Club in Brookside. Frank Boensch and Louis Giovacchini (34-32) of Mercer Oaks tied in second place with Ervin Allaghi and Michael O’Connell (32-34) of North Jersey at six under par, shooting a 66.

 

A total of fifteen teams qualified for the Championship, which will be held next week- Monday-Wednesday at Trenton Country Club in West Trenton. This match play tournament also drew 17 teams from last week’s qualifying at Hawk Pointe; today’s qualifier completed the 32 team field. Defending Champions Craig Smith and Brad Mills of Fairmount will not defend their title.
