In the second of three sectional qualifying rounds for the 85^th New Jersey State Golf Association/Lincoln-Mercury Open Championship, Harris Podvey of Newton, Michael Fisher of Trump National, and Brian Gussis of the TPC at Jasna Polana each shot a one-under par 69 earlier today at the par-70, (35-35) Newton Country Club in Newton. These tri-medalists led a total of 21 qualifiers who will advance to the Championship itself at Fairmount Country Club July 12-14.

Bill McCluney of Oak Ridge, John Deegan of Rock Spring, and Bryan Florio each shot an even-par 70 to tie for second place. Qualifiers from today will join a number of players exempt from qualifying, plus those from this past Monday’s qualifier at Spring Brook and next Monday’s (June 27) qualifier at Glenwood Country Club in Old Bridge.
