Once again, New Jersey golfers will have the opportunity to play some of the state’s most prized private courses this upcoming golf season at a very reasonable cost thanks to the New Jersey State Golf Association’s highly popular Member Golf Days.

Member Golf Days, which began with four events in 2011 and added a fifth in 2012, and a sixth in 2013, has jumped to 10 dates due to high demand at both classic and contemporary courses dotted throughout the state. The Member Golf Day season begins on Monday, April 28, at Trump National-Philadelphia in Pine Hill and lasts until Tuesday, October 14 at Hidden Creek in Egg Harbor Township.

The other Member Golf Day outings include Wednesday, May 28, at Wildwood Golf and Country Club in Cape May Courthouse; Tuesday, June 17 at Rumson C.C. and Thursday, June 26 at Edgewood C.C. in Rivervale.

Also, Monday, July 21 at The Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes; Tuesday, August 5 at Rock Spring Club in West Orange; Monday, August 18 at Metedeconk National G.C. in Jackson; Wednesday September 17 at Copper Hill C.C. in Ringoes and Wednesday, September 24 at Shackamaxon C.C. in Scotch Plains.

The NJSGA is allowing members to register on three dates. Registration is available beginning March 3 for the first four events at Trump-Philadelphia, Wildwood, Rumson and Edgewood.

On May 1, golfers can register to play at Ridge @ Back Brook, Rock Spring and Metedeconk National. On July 1, registration opens for the final three Member Golf Days at Copper Hill, Shackamaxon and Hidden Creek.

“We are very excited about how Member Golf Days have grown in popularity. These are can’t-miss events for our membership,” said Rich Kennedy, the NJSGA director of membership and handicapping services. “It is a great opportunity to play great courses that golfers may never again have the opportunity to play.

“These courses rank with among the best New Jersey has to offer. We are extremely pleased with how the Member Golf Day schedule turned out for this season. It shows that the better courses are amenable to hosting such events. There is a lot of enthusiasm for the outings from both the golfers’ side and the clubs’ side,” Kennedy stated.

Golfers, who pay $125 to take part in any of the 10 events and receive greens fee, cart, lunch, prizes and post-golf hors d’oeuvres, will play in less competitive tournament conditions. The only eligibility requirements is that a male or female golfer over the age of 18 be registered at a NJSGA member club/course and hold an active Handicap Index of less than 30.0.

Over the years, these 10 clubs have hosted many NJSGA championships as well as other regional and national events. On these 10 dates, New Jersey golfers can sample NJSGA golf under more relaxing conditions. The program is geared for the NJSGA’s broader membership audience.

“These are less formal competitions which will give golfers a chance to compete in a net format. The net tournaments will include one team event, two individual stroke-play events and one individual Stableford event. We are always looking for ways to add more benefits to our membership services at the NJSGA,” Kennedy said.

“Truly, these courses sell themselves. This is what Member Golf Days are all about – creating great opportunities for our membership,” he concluded.
