Ed Batta Stepping Down As Chairman Of The NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation

Ed Batta, the chairman of the New Jersey State Golf Association, is stepping down as chairman of the Caddie Scholarship Foundation after 20 years in the position.

He will remain involved in an advisory capacity. Ben Del Vento Sr., long-time vice chairman of the CSF, will assume the chairmanship.

During Batta’s time, the CSF raised millions in donations and placed thousands of New Jersey caddie scholars into tuition grants. This past year,180 caddies received a tuition grant from the NJSGA CSF of at least $3,500.

"I have known Ed Batta for many years through business and respected him as a talented professional. I "discovered" the Ed Batta of the NJSGA when I first became involved in the Association and witnessed his passion for New Jersey golf and, especially, for our Caddie Scholarship Foundation,” said NJSGA president Dan Meehan. “Under Ed's leadership, the CSF has awarded millions of dollars of scholarships to hundreds of New Jersey caddies and brought the Foundation to a preeminent position in the country. Ed has worked tirelessly for our youth and, I'm sure, will continue to do so with his longtime CSF partner, our new chairman, Ben Del Vento. "

In 2011, Batta, who has served as NJSGA president, received the prestigious NJSGA/NJPGA Distinguished Service Award which honors exemplary volunteer service to golf in New Jersey consistent with the values, honor and traditions of the game.
