Beverly Harrison, Youth Golf Advocate, Honoree At Benedictine Outing

Dr. Beverly E. Harrison, JD, an avid golfer who is passionate about bringing golf to inner city youth and who oversees Renaissance Junior Golf and LPGA/USGA Girls Golf of Greater Newark, will be honored on Monday, September 16, as part of Benedictine Academy’s Eighth Annual Golf Outing at the Maplewood Country Club.

“Beverly will be honored for her commitment and dedication over the years for advancing junior golf, especially girls’ golf. I have known Bev for some years now and have seen firsthand how much she gives of her personnel time to junior golf,” said Hilary Abramowitz, who assists Beverly in advancing those causes.

Dr. Harrison is a retired college vice president and labor counsel, and labor and employment arbitrator/mediator.

“Many who have known Beverly for much longer than I have or have only exchanged emails or had a brief conversation with her, come away with this impression: Passion and Dedication,” Abramowitz said.

The event serves as a fund-raiser for Benedictine Academy which, since 1915 has been preparing young women for college in the Elizabeth and Greater Essex/Union county areas. Since 1995, 98 percent of its graduates have gone on to college.

Cost of the golf outing, which includes greens fee, cart, brunch, dinner, goodie bag, prizes, etc., is $300. Attendees who wish to honor Dr. Harrison at dinner only are asked for a donation of $120. Donors and sponsors are welcome.

Golf is a 12:30 shotgun start at Maplewood Country Club.
