Brett Jones' Fairway Eagle On 18 Wins Charity Clambake

Brett Jones of Due Process Stable was trailing Sam Kang (Essex Golf Range) by 3 strokes heading into round 3 and for most of the day. After making the turn Kang had a two stroke lead after Brett posted an uncharacteristic triple bogey on the par 5, 9th hole. The momentum seemed to be in Kang’s favor and most thought he would claim his first Charity Clambake title.

However, after birdieing the par 3, 17th hole, Jones holed out from the fairway for eagle to defeat Sam Kang by 1 stroke. Brett went 73-68-69 for the three rounds which was a total of 6-under par for the 54-hole competition.

This is the third NJPGA Major Championship victory in a row for Jones, a native Australian, dating back to last October with his win at the Fall Finale and then claiming victory over Kang in the final match for the match play championship this spring. In 2009, Jones won the NJSGA State Open as well as the NJPGA Match-Play.
