Robb Gibb 1st PGA Member Named Senior Putt-lab Instructor

Robb Gibb, director of instruction at The Loft at North Jersey Country Club in Wayne recently finalized the SAM PuttLab Level3 six-hours certification course with success and is now the only certified PGA member named "Science & Motion Sports Senior PuttLab Instructor.”

“The process to obtain was difficult, because it's an opportunity that's only been extended to four people since the development of Science & Motion Sports nearly two decades ago. I'm only the second person in the United States and the only PGA member in the world that's been named "Senior PuttLab Instructor" so it's a huge honor for me to represent Dr. Christian Marquardt and the team at Science & Motion GmbH,” Gibb stated.

“The certification "test" was six hours. The material I used to answer the written portion of the test was based on my proficiency with PuttLab, learning methods, instruction techniques and report analysis based on the data that PuttLab presents,” Gibb noted.

He purchased the SAM PuttLab5 last spring when he began working towards the completion of the high tech indoor fitting studio that he paid for personally and built called "The Loft" at North Jersey Country Club.

“I've been able to develop a fairly unique system of fitting putters and giving lessons. I have also incorporated a Tour Gauge Digital Mitchell Putting Machine and a raised aluminum hydraulic putting table called the Putting Perfection Platform, which I use to analyze each player I work with.

In addition to his work with SAM Sports, Gibb is scheduled to visit Austin, Texas in three weeks to become certified to fit putters using the new system Edel Golf has developed.

“At that point I will be able to custom fit Edel Golf putters and wedges right out of my teaching studio at North Jersey,” said Gibb, a native of central New York State.

He is in his fourth year at North Jersey Country Club. Prior to that, he spent two years as First Assistant Professional at Greenacres Country Club in Lawrenceville (2010-2011) and five years as assistant at The Links at Hiawatha Landing (2005-2009). During my time at the Links I also volunteered as the Assistant Coach at Vestal High School and I was the Program Director of a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit youth golf organization called The Hiawatha Golf Project.

“While running the program at the "HGP" we raised over $100,000 through various fundraising activities like charity golf tournaments & celebrity dinners with names like Craig Stadler, Mark Lye, Donna Caponi & Brad Faxon who came to speak to the dinner attendees. The fundraisers completely funded the three-hole golf course that we built on site at The Links at Hiawatha Landing,” Gibb explained.

Gibb was All-State at Union-Endicott High School in New York and captained the Division I Men's Golf Team at Binghamton University. He won several club championships at En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y., during that period. While at Binghamton, he won two individual events and was part of 22 team wins, including a stretch of seven consecutive team titles that was mentioned in ESPN the Magazine.
