Purchase Tickets To President's Cup Which Will Have Positive Impact In N.J. This Fall

PURCHASE TICKETS TO PRESIDENTS CUP

When the President’s Cup is played in New Jersey this fall, Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City will be just the fourth golf course in the United States to host the prestigious team match-play competition.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the build-up to the event, which takes place Sept. 26- Oct. 1, began.

“We wanted to reach out to the local community and start spreading the news,” said Kirsten Sabia, vice president of marketing for the PGA Tour, which oversees the President’s Cup.

According to the PGA Tour, the event objectives are to:

1) Deliver the most significant international competition in the history of the sport.

2) Grow the reach of the game by hosting the Super Bowl week of golf.

3) Take full advantage of staging the most global event in the most global city in the world (New York City area)

4) Deliver superior value to players, partners, sponsors, charities and fans.

The economic impact of the charitable President’s Cup is huge, reaching $60 million in 2013 when it was hosted by Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.Some 450 charities from around the world (15 countries) are impacted. First Tee is a major U.S. recipient.

That “Super Bowl” week of golf includes the inaugural Junior President’s Cup, Sept. 25-26 at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J.; the President’s Cup Fan Experience at the Oculus in New York City and the World Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Sept. 26 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

The Junior President’s Cup at Plainfield will include teams of the top amateur boys from the U.S. and international rankings. There will be 12 singles, six four-ball and six foursomes matches. Captains are Trevor Immelman and David Toms and honorary captains are Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.

Another 700 of a total of 1,300 volunteers are needed to support the President’s Cup. Volunteers can serve on any of 22 committees. The volunteer package costs $125 with a value of $600. The package includes shirt, pullover, hat, weekly badge and more. Volunteers are asked to work three shifts, bat the badge entitles to attend each day of the event.
