First Of 10 Member Golf Days Tees Off At Trump Philadelphia

The NJSGA’s Member Golf Day season is officially underway.

With a full-field of 112 players in attendance , Trump National – Philadelphia was the site for the first of 10 highly popular Member Golf Days on Monday, April 28 in Pine Hill.

Anyone who is a member of the NJSGA, that is, anyone with an active GHIN handicap at an NJSGA-member club or golf course, is eligible to take part in these special golf events.

“There was a lot of excitement among the players, just being here, using the beautiful clubhouse and practice facilities. The Philadelphia skyline in the distance beyond the course is also quite dramatic. We have a good mix of returning players and many new faces as well,” said Rich Kennedy, NJSGA Director of Handicapping and Member Services.

“We feel we’re providing a service for our members by offering them opportunities to play courses throughout the state. Our next Member Golf Day is at Wildwood Golf and Country Club (May28), then at Rumson (June 17), then up in Bergen County at Edgewood C.C. in Rivervale(June 26). We will also be in the mountains at Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes (July 21) and other courses during the summer and into the fall.

“It has been a difficult winter and now we’re finally ready to go out and play golf,” Kennedy commented.

Member Golf Days, which began with four events in 2011 and added a fifth in 2012, and a sixth in 2013, has jumped to 10 dates due to high demand at both classic and contemporary courses dotted throughout the state.

Also, Monday, July 21 at The Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes; Tuesday, August 5 at Rock Spring Club in West Orange; Monday, August 18 at Metedeconk National G.C. in Jackson; Wednesday September 17 at Copper Hill C.C. in Ringoes and Wednesday, September 24 at Shackamaxon C.C. in Scotch Plains.

The NJSGA is allowing members to register on three dates. Registration is available beginning March 3 for the first four events at Trump-Philadelphia, Wildwood, Rumson and Edgewood.

On May 1, golfers can register to play at Ridge @ Back Brook, Rock Spring and Metedeconk National. On July 1, registration opens for the final three Member Golf Days at Copper Hill, Shackamaxon and Hidden Creek.

At Trump National – Philadelphia, the competition was indivudal stroke play new Stableford, with points rewarded for net score on each hole. Prizes were awarded for top two net scores in each of three flights .
