Participate In Patriot Golf Day This Weekend Throughout N.J.

Some 150 public and private golf courses in New Jersey are participating in the seventh annual Patriot Golf Day to benefit children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our nation.

The event is taking place all over the country, including the Garden State, this weekend through Labor Day, Monday, September 2.

Golfers nationwide are asked to donate a minimum of $1 to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation® to provide educational scholarships for The Folds of Honor Foundation provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving the United States. To date more than 5,000 scholarships have been awarded by the Folds of Honor Foundation.

The United States Golf Association, which with The PGA of America is a founding partner of Patriot Golf Day, is proud to continue its support of this important initiative.

In 2012, more than 4,500 facilities registered to host Patriot Golf Day events and raised a record $4.3 million for the Folds of Honor. But despite these successes, the need to help remains. The continued support of USGA Members will help ensure that this program is able to assist more families and honor the legacy of those who have sacrificed to serve our nation.

During the past six years, Patriot Golf Day has raised more than $17 million dollars and the Folds of Honor Foundation has awarded more than 5,000 scholarships. PGA Professional Dan Rooney, a former F-16 fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, is the founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation. Major Rooney has served three tours in Iraq. 'We have lost so many soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice. America can come together in the spirit of golf and have a dramatic impact. We have an opportunity to make a difference for the families who have made the ultimate sacrifice.'
