Greyserman, Totland, Vannelli Lead Player Of Year Races

The three NJSGA Player of the Year races are in the final stages with Max Greyserman of Crestmont, Taylor Totland of Hollywood and Ron Vannelli of Forsgate the frontrunners.

Greyserman, A Duke University junior who won the State Amateur and was runner-up in the State Open, has 820 points in the Men’s Player of the Year standings, with a clear lead over Ryan Snouffer of Panther Valley (590 points), the Met Amateur runner-up who was fifth in the State Open.

Mike Stamberger of Spring Lake, the Men’s Player of the Year in 2014 and 2011, is third with 555 points, led by his T3 at the State Open and T4 at the State Amateur.

Trevor Randolph of Arcola is fourth with 543.3 points, followed by Brian Komline of Black Oak with 497.5 points. Komline was POY in 2008 and 2007.

OFFICIAL PLAYER OF YEAR STANDINGS

In the Women’s Player of the Year chase, Totland ,\a Furman University junior and the two-time Women’s Amateur champion, has 625 points. Her strong play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur added to her total. She is followed by Alice Chen of Neshanic Valley (500 points), the Women’s Public Links champion, who won last year’s first Women’s POY award.

Following Chen is Mid-Amateur champion Tara Fleming of N.J. National with 385 points with Noelle Maertz of Hyatt Hills and Alicia Kapheim of Hopewell Valley, tied for fourth place with 250 points.

In the Men’s Senior Player of the Year division, Ron Vannelli of Forsgate, off strong showings in the Senior Open and Senior Amateur, leads with 225 points over Senior Amateur champion Bill Charpek of Navesink (170 points).

Rounding out the top five are last year’s Senior POY Jay Blumenfeld of Mountain Ridge with 133.3 points, Adam Kugler of Alpine with 105 points and Anthony Fioretti of Ballyowen with 93.3 points.
