NJSGA Hosts Inaugural Tournament Player Reception At Galloping Hill

Friends, relatives, volunteers and members the New Jersey State Golf Association were on hand for the inaugural Tournament Players Reception on Wednesday, Jan. 6, at its headquarters at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the NJSGA Senior Player of the Year Award to Ron Vannelli of Metuchen.

Champions who attended were Maura Ballard of Raritan Valley (Women’s Senior Amateur), Ami Gianchandani of Rock Spring (Junior Girls), Nick Desai of Baltusrol (Men’s Pre-Senior) and Peter Kozubal of Fox Hollow (Men’s Public Links).

“It was an opportunity for us to socialize in the winter with people we spend a lot of time with in the summer,” said NJSGA executive director Kevin Purcell. “It’s a good way to stay in touch with them and a perfect opportunity to share a few laughs as friends. We were happy to have a good cross-section of people at the event.”

All of the NJSGA championship trophies were on display and photographic highlights of the 2015 season were shown on a projector.

“It was good to recognize the champions in the room and have one of our Players of the Year, Ron Vannelli,on hand to present his award,” Purcell said.

Other Players of the Year for 2015, who were not in attendance, are Duke University's Max Greyserman of Crestmont (Men’s Player of the Year, Men's Amateur champion ) and Furman University's Taylor Totland of Hollywood (Women’s Player of the Year, Women's Amateur champion).

Former champions in attendance included Brian Komline and Mike Deo of Black Oak, Jay Blumenfeld of Mountain Ridge, Dan Levinson of Bayonne, Baker Maddera of Rock Spring and Allan Small of Fairmount.
