“I drove the ball great today. I missed only two fairways all day,” said Forlenza, 62, an insurance broker who carries a five handicap. Forlenza had three natural birdies on holes nine, 10, and eight. “We’ve been playing together for a long time. It helps.”

Kohut totaled six net birdies.

“I putted, chipped and drove it well,” said Kohut, 63, a 13 handicap who works in residential construction. “We have good chemistry. I won this in 2005 when I was a member at Montclair. But this team has better chemistry. Everybody knows their part.”

Allaghi chipped in with three net birdies.

“We play well to our handicaps,” said Allaghi, who carries a 14 handicap and works in new construction. “I’ve been playing with Charlie for 40 years and with Paul for 30 years.”

Samanchik, who was also on North Jersey’s winning team in 1984, added two net birdies.

“We know each other’s games. I’ve been playing with Rich every weekend for almost 30 years,” said Samanchik, 70, a 17-handicap who is a financial planner. “WE enjoy each other’s company.”
