NJSGA Partners With Molesafe, World Leader In Early Detection Of Skin Cancer

The New Jersey State Golf Association is pleased to announce a partnership with MoleSafe, the world leader in advanced early detection and monitoring for skin cancer using Total Body Photography and Serial Digital Dermoscopic Imaging (SDDI) technology.

As an official sponsor, MoleSafe will offer NJSGA Members a myriad of educational resources and preferred pricing on both first time and re-occurring office assessments. Through an integrated marketing campaign, MoleSafe will leverage the NJSGA logo, communications channels and events to connect with their target audience to increase awareness of the dangers of skin cancer and reinforce the importance of early detection.

One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of their lifetime. MoleSafe’s Skin Surveillance Program can detect melanoma at an early, and therefore, more treatable stage at less cost and significantly increasing a patient’s survival rate.

“We have found that many golfers are in the top demographic group experiencing the highest incidence of skin cancer. The highest incidence for melanoma occurs in white men age 50 and over, and many are golfers who are exposed to the sun,” said Kevin Sheridan, Chief Executive Officer of MoleSafe. “Many also don’t realize the added risk this exposure creates. Each year, more than three million Americans are affected by skin cancer and every hour an American will die from melanoma, the most lethal form of skin cancer.”

As a member benefit, NJSGA members will receive a $30.00 discount when they visit a MoleSafe Skin Surveillance Center. MoleSafe currently has four locations in New Jersey, two in New York, and is opening additional centers later this year.

Together, MoleSafe and the NJSGA are focusing on increasing awareness of skin cancer, especially melanoma, the deadliest form, and as well as year-round issues relating to potentially harmful amounts of UV exposure. Over the past three decades, the incidence of skin cancer has more than doubled and is expected to continue to increase in the decades ahead. Over the past three decades, more people have had skin cancer than all other cancers combined and each year there are more new cases of skin cancer than breast, colon, lung and prostrate cancer combined.*

MoleSafe, based in Millburn, N.J., partners with some of the New Jersey’s top Cancer Centers and Hospital Systems across the state, locating their state-of-the-art diagnostic offices within the hospital’s specialty Cancer and Melanoma Clinics units. MoleSafe and the NJSGA have entered into a multi-year partnership beginning in June, 2017.

“Golfers are a high-risk category risk for skin cancer due to their exposure to the sun. As they age, golfers become more and more of a risk for skin cancer due to their cumulative exposure to the sun,” said Taylor Sheridan, MoleSafe’s Manager of Operations. “It is our experience that a majority of people do not take the necessary precautions to protect their skin.”

Said NJSGA executive director Kevin Purcell: “The high risk of skin cancer and melanoma is an inherent danger for golfers . Our partnership with MoleSafe will not only help New Jersey golfers understand how to manage the risk, but work to elevate awareness of skin cancer on a much broader, strategic level. The pervasive impact of skin cancer in society today warrants a far greater need for awareness than exists today. MoleSafe provides a means of early detection with state-of-the-art, non-invasive technology.”

The MoleSafe Skin Surveillance Program was created over the last 15 years to overcome many of the shortcomings of conventional skin cancer practices. To date more than 250,000 patients have taken advantage of the Skin Surveillance Program technology to benchmark and monitor their skin for the early signs of skin cancer. The most effective means of detecting skin cancer, primarily melanoma, is to identify changes in the skin. The Skin Surveillance Program has been proven to identify melanomas earlier than traditional methods and with a significant reduction in excisions/biopsies.

“At MoleSafe, our approach is proactive and comprehensive, utilizing the latest in dermatoscopic detection, diagnosis and serial monitoring technology. Our MoleSafe Skin Surveillance Program has the reliable accuracy to reveal skin cancer and melanoma at the earliest possible stage for fast, effective treatment. In fact, it is now the world’s most advanced detection and surveillance system for the early detection of skin cancers, including the deadly melanoma,” said CEO Kevin Sheridan.
