Course Description
Imagine the mid 1920's: the sounds of a busy milking barn, acres of farm land. A dream was in the making; Robert White a famed Scottish architect, walked the rolling hills of Scotts Mountain envisioning what he would build and would become known as Harkers Hollow Golf & Country Club.
Mr. White, well known for his architecture and designs was contracted to design and construct Harkers Hollow which was founded in September of 1929. Mr. White was also the architect for other notable clubs such as Manasquan River Golf Club and many more. He was also the founder of The Golf Course Architect Association, and served as the first president of the United States Professional Golf Association of America when it was founded in 1916 and served until 1920.
Many changes have been made to Harkers Hollow over the years, but we have been steadfast in our commitment to keeping the course as close as possible to the original design set forth by Mr. White. Forward tees have been added to make the course more playable for all golfers. In the past decade stone walls lining the property have been refurbished, a barn built in 1820 was brought back to life and is in use today.
Two years ago, our pool built in the 50's gave way, and today in its place is a resort - style pool complex, complete with a rock lined water fall, and a 20 person hot tub. The Pavilion at the pool has also had some upgrading done over the last two years with more to be done in the future. The beauty of the pool complex is unrivaled by any other in the area. Harkers Hollow is looking forward to what the future holds for this generation as well as the next.
