DEAL, N.J. – While avoiding the storms in the forecast, the stroke play portion of the New Jersey State Golf Association 90th Four-Ball Championship has concluded at Deal Golf & Country Club on Monday, May 16 and the match play portion of the championship is set to begin on Tuesday, May 17. The duo of Adam Bracy and Jack Wallace put together an impressive 9-under par 62 to collect medalist honors.

“We ham and egged it. It was both of us,” explained Wallace. “I started out hot and then Adam made some birdies in the middle and then we both kind of went back and forth at the end.”

The pair collected nine birdies and not a single blemish on their scorecard.

“A chip in on one was a good way to get the day started,” added Bracy. “Jack chipped in on one from behind the green and that kind of got us going.”

The cut was set at 2-under par as 16 teams advanced to match play, which will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Medalists in the Four-Ball qualifier at Mountain View Golf Course on April 28, Max O’Hagan and Cameron Bell shot a 7-under 64. The pair are familiar being teammates on the golf course, specifically in match play.

“The rough is quite thick, so putting the ball in the fairway is a huge advantage, especially with some of these pins,” said O’Hagan. “Luckily, we both drove it pretty well today and luckily the flat stick, at times, behaved. That was a big factor for us.”

Round of 16 matches as well as quarterfinal matches will take place on Tuesday, while the semifinals and final match will conclude on Wednesday.
