Annual Golf Summit set for April 5 at Galloping Hill

KENILWORTH, NEW JERSEY - The annual New Jersey Golf Summit will be held on Tuesday, April 5 from 3pm-6pm at Galloping Hill Golf Course, home of the NJSGA headquarters. As always, the event will feature highly accomplished speakers from different areas of the golf industry who will be on hand to share information and lend their expertise.

The Golf Summit is the perfect educational and networking event for leaders of public and private golf courses and clubs, including board members and staff members. Additionally, the general public is welcome to attend as well. To register and pay for the Golf Summit, click here. Speaker Biographies:

  • Steve Mona has been an impactful leader in the golf industry for 41 years. Steve first served as tournament director of the Northern California Golf Association from September 1980 to January 1982. He then became assistant manager of press relations for the United States Golf Association (USGA) from January 1982 to June 1993, at which time he became Executive Director of the Georgia State Golf Association. In January 1994, he became the Chief Executive Officer of the Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSAA). In March 2008, after 14 years at GCSAA, he assumed his position as Chief Executive Officer of the World Golf Foundation (WGF). In March 2019, he became the Executive Director of We Are Golf (formerly Golf 20/20), which is one of the three divisions of the World Golf Foundation, and in January 2020 became Senior Advisor to WGF CEO Greg McLaughlin, a role he holds today. He also serves as the Director of Governance and Leadership at Club Benchmarking, a role he began in July 2019 and in which he continues today.
  • Steve Schloss is an accomplished chief people officer, modern business leader, and former graduate faculty member turned leadership and team coach and trusted advisor. Steve brings a unique perspective after thirty-five years of earned leadership lessons from building, growing, scaling, and transforming organizations across finance, media, tech, and sports. For the last eight years, he was the chief people officer at the USGA, where he led the transformation and continuous improvement of leadership, culture, capability, inclusion, and workplace in support of their mission to champion and advance the sport as it continues to grow and change. He also led systems change efforts to make golf more diverse and inclusive to work, volunteer, play, and compete. In early 2020, Steve founded ListenForward, a coaching practice and advisory dedicated to helping C-level executives and teams strengthen individual and collective performance, deliver sustained results, and make a positive impact with and for the people they lead and the customers and communities they serve. Concurrently, as Operating Partner, Leadership Center of Excellence at Edison Partners, a premier growth equity firm, he serves as a coach and adviser to portfolio CEOs and executive teams as they build, grow, and transform their companies and the markets they serve.
  • Amy Cowley recently graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a master's degree in Human Resources Management and has an eye on continuing her education with a Doctorate in Business Administration. Her focus is to assist companies with their human resources needs, ranging from staffing and retention, to employee engagement and compensation management.  Amy has spent the last several months assisting Montclair Golf Club with their staffing needs and has created a highly successful recruiting process which has attracted top talent to the club. 
  • Michael Campbell, the Director of Golf Course Operations, is busy renovating the historic Montclair Golf Club. Using overhead photos from the 1930s, Mike and his team are recapturing the spirit of the Ross and Banks layouts. Michael came to Montclair via Rock Spring Club in 2015, where he served as Director of Grounds and General Manager for 11 years.  After a short time at Montclair, Michael took on the role of General Manager, but is now back to solely overseeing the Golf Course Operations at this bustling, 36-hole private club in West Orange.
  • Justin Avallone is Vice President of Utility Programs at Donnelly Energy, a premier energy efficiency firm dedicated to helping New Jersey businesses and local government entities "go green" and save green.
