Any team can win 2019 Ultimate Team Event at Wild Turkey & Cascades at Crystal Springs Resort

You’ve got to be in it to win it – and any team can win it – literally.

The 2019 New Jersey State Golf Association’s Ultimate Team Event, presented by St. Kitts Tourism, moves to renowned Wild Turkey Golf Club and Cascades Golf Club at Crystal Springs Resort in Vernon/Hamburg, N.J. and the 27-hole two-man team competition will take place on Monday, August 12.

The novel twist in this, the fifth year of the Ultimate Team Event, is that one (1) two-man team will be randomly selected at the end of the awards ceremony to receive an all-expenses paid trip (including airfare) to St. Kitts to represent the NJSGA and compete in the 2020 Admirals Cup Am-Am Tournament which is the St. Kitts Tourism Authority’s signature golf event. The random selection represents a change from previous years, when the winning team was awarded the grand prize.

In addition, each player on the top five overall teams, as well as the first-place teams in each of the three formats (Four-Ball, Pinehurst and Shamble) will be awarded a $500 credit certificate for use towards entry into the 2020 Admirals Cup along with pro-shop credit for use at Wild Turkey that day.

“The Ultimate Team Event is a great way for St. Kitts to bring our partnership with the NJSGA to life,” said Racquel Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.

“Beyond the ability to generate teams for the Admirals Cup, the UTE allows us to engage with each and every golfer throughout the day. We answer their questions about the destination and encourage them to consider St. Kitts and Nevis for their next golf getaway. With increased flights and new luxury resorts coming online, we’re excited to be regarded as a must visit Caribbean destination by many print publications, key travel specialists and digital media outlets,” Brown noted.

The Admirals Cup is a 54-hole team tournament that features both Pro-Am and Am-Am divisions. Pro-Am teams consist of a PGA club professional and three amateurs, while Am-Am teams are made up of any combination of two amateurs (male, female, senior, etc.). Four different sets of tees are used and all scoring is on a net basis which allows a wide range of players to enjoy competing against each other in this island paradise.

The tournament is staged at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club and the Robert Trent Jones II course at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis. The Royal St. Kitts Golf Club was recently ranked among the Top-50 courses in the Caribbean and Mexico according to Golfweek’s 2019 Ultimate Guide.

The St. Kitts & Nevis Admirals Cup is the only golf event of its kind with tournament rounds contested simultaneously on two different Caribbean islands. NJSGA Members can take advantage of nonstop flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to St. Kitts, which are available now through April.

Wild Turkey Golf Club in Vernon (18 Holes) and Cascades Golf Club in Hamburg (9 holes) are the latest constructions in the Crystal Springs Resort family. Wild Turkey opened in 2000 and Cascades in 2008. The mountainous layouts of Cascades and Wild Turkey will present a unique challenge to this year’s competitors.

In 2019, the 27-hole event will feature a shotgun at 10:00 a.m. In a change from previous years, there will be continuous play from that point forward. An awards reception will follow golf which will be highlighted by the random drawing of two teams that will be awarded free trips to beautiful St. Kitts. Additional prizes and awards will be also be presented during the post-golf reception.

The NJSGA Ultimate Team Event (UTE) was started in 2015 and hosted by Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson. The UTE is a two-man team net tournament played over 27-Holes using three different team formats (Four-Ball, Pinehurst and Shamble) to make it the ultimate team golf experience.
