Brandon Dalinka, The Ridge at Back Brook won his second New Jersey Mid-Amateur Championship on Friday, June 10

BERNARDSVILLE, N.J. – Brandon Dalinka is back in the winner’s circle, winning the 39th New Jersey Mid-Amateur Championship at Somerset Hills Country Club on Friday afternoon. Dalinka, who won in 2019 took down 2008 Mid-Amateur Champion Michael Stamberger in the finale, 3&2 to hoist the Gigi Carnevale Trophy.

“I was lucky enough to come out on top playing against a great competitor, Michael Stamberger,” said Dalinka following his victory. “I’ve played a lot of golf with him and it’s just a treat being out there with him. All the competitors were just awesome so it’s just a good week and I’m glad it turned out the way it did.”

Leading 2-up with three to play in the finale, Dalinka, 28, drained a birdie putt on the 162-yard par-3 16th hole to seal his victory.

“It was just a treat being out here,” expressed Dalinka. “Somerset Hills is such a great venue and honestly just playing all the rounds we got to play on this course is just a treat.”

It was a long three days of golf, but Dalinka, the 13 seed pushed through despite falling behind early on in the finale.

“It’s a lot of golf you just have to kind of stay patient,” said Dalinka.

It was a par on No. 8 to win the hole, which helped flip the momentum for Dalinka. He proceeded to win the 9th, which tied up the match. He went on to win hole No. 11 with a par and then 15 and 16 by way of clutch birdie putts.

In his morning semifinal, Dalinka defeated Ryan Cass, 3&2. It was a back-and-forth battle, and at the turn, it was tied. Dalinka continued to apply pressure and won holes 10, 13 and `15
