Dhaubhadel Fires 4-under 66 to Medal in 121st Amateur Qualifier at Lake Mohawk GC

SPARTA, N.J. – Melan Dhaubhadel, an incoming junior at the University of Louisiana at Monroe shot an impressive 4-under par 66 en route to medalist honors at qualifying for the 121st New Jersey Amateur Championship. Dhaubhadel notched five birdies and just one bogey at Lake Mohawk Golf Club, which played 6,245 yards on Tuesday.

“I hit it pretty good off the tee and hit a lot of greens,” said Dhaubhadel. “I didn’t make many mistakes and when I got myself in trouble, I took my medicine. The parts just fell in today, I was pretty patient and stuck to my process. It’s nice to see a good number in the end.”

“I was just trying to have fun out here,” expressed Alex. “It’s been a while since I’ve played tournament golf, so it was good to get back out, just looking to enjoy myself.”

The next qualifier for the 121st New Jersey Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank is set for Tuesday, June 7 at Hawk Pointe Golf Club. Pairings and starting times can be found here.
