Esposito is in position to successfully defend his NJ Senior Open title from last year after firing a near blemish-free round while carding four birdies, an eagle and just one bogey on the day. The Golf Instructor at Mountain Ridge Country Club, Esposito picked up an eagle on the par-5, 14th hole, quickly following that up with a birdie on No. 15 to reach as low as six-under on the afternoon.

Randolph, who started on the 10th hole, rode a birdie on 18 into a stellar stretch of golf which saw him go four under through the first five holes of his back-nine. Randolph also had an eagle of his own, with his coming on the par-5, third hole.

Gregg Angelillo follows closely behind with a four-under par 68 heading into day two. The trio of Brian Gaffney, Jamie Slonis and Jeff Kortina sit at T4 with respective rounds of one-under par 71. Forty players and ties earned a spot in the final round as scores of six-over or better advanced.
