Galloping Hill To Host First Tee Regional Challenge

The Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth will host the 2013 Northeast Regional Chapter Challenge beginning Sunday, June 30 through Tuesday, July 2, and include chapters representing six states and the District of Columbia.

First Tee of Raritan Valley, which calls Galloping Hill home, First Tee of Metropolitan New York (which includes chapters in Essex County and Plainfield), First Tee of Monmouth and Ocean counties and First Tee of Greater Trenton are New Jersey chapters that will compete.

Other chapters expected to be represented are defending champion Greater Philadelphia, Baltimore, Connecticut, Delaware, Lehigh Valley (Pa.), Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., and Western New York.

Chapter teams consisting of four players of which one boy and girl ages 15 to 18 and one boy and girl ages 12 to 14 will be competing for the Chapter Cup. The competition consists of a life skills test and golf competition. The golf competition will be contested on the 18 and 9-holes courses with the 15 to 18 year-olds playing the 18-hole course and the 12 to 14 year-olds playing the 9-hole course. Students will also enjoy time at Hurricane Harbor at Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J., on Monday afternoon, July 1. Kean University in nearby Union, N.J., will house students and their chaperones for two nights.

Ben Witter (www.benspowergolf.com) will conduct a golf-themed trick show on Sunday evening, June 30, at 7:30. at The TaylorMade Learning Center at Galloping Hill. The show is open to all! The two- day competition will conclude with a 9-hole diversity scramble on Tuesday morning at The Learning Center Nine. Teams of four students from different chapters will be paired for the scramble.
