Ganne Four Strokes Back at U.S. Women's Open

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The stage is set at The Olympic Club for the final round of the 2021 U.S. Women's Open, and 17-year-old Megha Ganne is in the final group on Sunday. Ganne, of Holmdel is just four strokes behind leader, Lexi Thompson. She is set to tee off on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. ET alongside Thompson and Yuka Saso.

In front of an enthusiastic gallery on Saturday, Ganne, shot a 1-over 72, which was highlighted by a pair of biridies on the front nine. Ganne leads the field with an average 1.43 putts per hole.

"It was so fun," Ganne explained to media following her Saturday round. "I've always imagined myself engaging with the fans like that just because when I was younger and watching events, I knew I would love it when I would see the pros just even look at the crowd or smile or do anything like that, so I really wanted to embody that today and I got a chance to on a few holes, which was nice."

Marina Alex currently sits in a tie for 16th following a third round 3-over 74. Alex will tee off in the final round at 12:23 p.m. ET and is 10 strokes back.
