WEST TRENTON, N.J. – Jim Beadle sits atop the leaderboard at the 63rd Senior Amateur Championship presented by the NJM Insurance Group, carding a one-under par 70 on Tuesday afternoon at Trenton Country Club. The Morris Plains native paces the field by two strokes heading into the final round.

Beadle, 57, opened his round on No. 10, carding a double-bogey before bouncing back with birdies on No. 13 and 15. He then put together a stellar front nine, recording birdies on No. 1 and 7.

“I hit it out of bounds on the 10th tee, starting my round with a double, which wasn’t much fun,” said Beadle. “I worked my way back in and on my back nine, I played really solid golf. I hit all nine greens and made a couple putts, overall, a really smooth back nine.”

Two competitors in Frank Abbott and Nicholas Bozzo finished Tuesday at one-over par 72 and are currently tied for second.

“I hit my driver really well and made some putts early on,” explained Abbott. “For me, the key was hitting greens and fairways today.”

The low 25 scorers (+ ties) have advanced to the final round on Wednesday morning beginning at 8 a.m.
