Katie Li Cruises to Round of 16 at 122nd U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Katie Li of Basking Ridge is headed to the Round of 16 in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay Golf Course after a 7&5 victory over Han Hsuan Yu of the Chinese Taipei on Thursday morning in the Round of 32.

Live television coverage of the U.S. Women’s Amateur will be on Golf Channel from 7 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET on Thursday evening. 

She will face Annabel Wilson of the Republic of Ireland in the next round of match play at 2:30 p.m. PT/ 5:30 p.m. ET

In the most recent World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) rankings, the 17-year-old is ranked No. 350 nationally. In the stroke play portion of the championship, Li finished 2-over par in 36 holes of action, carding rounds of 73 and 75, respectively.

Overall, four New Jersey natives in Li, Megha Ganne (Holmdel), Ami Gianchandani (Watchung) and Kelly Sim (Edgewater) competed at Chambers Bay this week. Gianchandani and Ganne fell in the Round of 64, while Sim did not qualify for the match play bracket.
