Keller Claims NJSGA Senior Amateur Title

BRIELLE, N.J. Peter Keller, Sr. of Canoe Brook fired a closing round 73 to win the NJSGA Senior Amateur Championship at Manasquan River Golf Club. With a two-round total of 149 (76-73), Keller bested Gerry Barnett of the host club by one stroke. The Senior Amateur is held for players over the age of 55, but prizes are also awarded in a Pre-Senior division and a Super-Senior division.

Robert Housen, also of Manasquan River, finished third at 151 and claimed Super-Senior honors for competitors over 65. In the Pre-Senior division, which encompasses ages 50-54, Tom Hyland of Little Mill paced the field with his two-round total of 147 (73-74).

Alton Jones of Mendham claimed low net honors with his two-round net score of 144 in a match of cards over Roy Pera of Rockaway River.
