NJSGA, Golf Community Mourn the Passing of Lee Richardson

The New Jersey golf community mourns the loss of a great champion. Lee Richardson of Teaneck, N.J., died on October 30 while vacationing in Italy. He is survived by his wife Joanne. Lee was 63 years old. Lee began to leave his mark on local golf by winning the 1993 MGA Public Links Championship. He repeated that victory in 1994 and added a third in 1999. This triumph was the beginning of a unique combinations of wins. Along with his third MGA Public Links, Lee won the 1999 NJSGA Amateur Championship at Hackensack Golf Club and the 2000 NJSGA Mid-Amateur at Plainfield Country Club. This is only time in history that these three trophies were held by one person. Lee’s golf accomplishments took a back seat to his big heart. He loved to share his knowledge of the game with fellow golfers young and old. He will be missed. Arrangements for a memorial service will be shared at a later time.
