NJSGA Offers Two Caddie Camps

NJSGA Offers Two Caddie Camps

The New Jersey State Golf Association is hosting two Caddie Camps this spring. The one day caddie clinics are scheduled for Saturday, March 25 at Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield, N.J., and Thursday, March 30 at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, N.J.

The free two-hour camps are for interested high school and college students. The event is open to young men and women in New Jersey who are interested in caddieing and for beginner caddies who may need a “refresher” before their first loop of the season.

Those who attend a NJSGA Caddie Camp will receive a certificate of attendance and will be given a recommendation by the NJSGA to caddie masters at clubs of their choosing.

Last year the NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation hosted its first caddie camp in nearly 20 years. Some 20 prospective male and female caddies attended the camp at Canoe Brook Country Club.

“It provided a great introduction to caddieing,” said Brad Bardon, NJSGA Manager, Tournaments and Operations who helped with instruction last year. “Many of our NJSGA member clubs have caddies and the camp helps the young people become involved in the game of golf and also lets them know about the NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation which rewards an average of 200 New Jersey caddies with college tuition grants per year.”
