UNION, N.J. – Despite the heat wave that made its way across the Garden State, Suburban Golf Club was filled with women who enjoyed a day of golf, a clinic, prizes, networking, food and drinks on Monday, August 8th for another sold out New Jersey State Golf Association Women’s Golf Day.

The women-only social event was an all-day affair, highlighted by 18 holes on the historic A.W. Tillinghast design that features tree-lined fairways and intricate greens. The format of the afternoon was Best Ball of 4 Net Stableford and the team of Elyse Harbers, Kathy Larkin, Gail Heiner and Jannie Pelcher came out on top with a total of 54 Stableford Points.

"It was very exciting to feel the energy at Suburban Golf Club where over one hundred women teed it up at one of the state’s premier venues," expressed Lisa Lifer, NJSGA Board Member. "The NJSGA wants to address the interest of different segments of its membership that result in participation in NJSGA activities. Through surveys and other feedback, we have learned that many women are looking for golf opportunities with other women in a social environment. Targeting these interests, the Women's Golf Day is a special type of member golf day that provides women-friendly competitive golf, a special golf activity and networking opportunities with other women."

In a pre-round clinic, Paul Lejeune, Assistant Golf Professional at Suburban provided the ladies with special advice to navigate the unique course.

The next Women’s Golf Day is set for October 17th at New Jersey National Golf Club in Basking Ridge. Registration will open on August 16th at 9 a.m. Click here to learn more.
