December 23, 2020 - The New Jersey State Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce that The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus has been named its 2019 Club of the Year.

The club raised $53,000 to the CSF for the year and has donated more than $560,000 to the Foundation in the past two decades.

“The donation of $53,000 is the largest we’ve ever provided for the NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation,” said Bill Ramsey, who along with fellow members Gene Benzenberg and Dirk Van Emburgh, serves as a club representative to the CSF.

“The members of the club have had a long relationship with the Caddie Scholarship Foundation, including some of our board members serving on the Foundation’s board. As a club, we feel strongly about it,” Ramsey acknowledged.

Ridgewood CC has designated the CSF as a local recipient of charitable donations raised through its hosting of the PGA Tour’s Barclays and the Northern Trust championships as part of the FedEx Cup playoffs. A check for $10,000 was presented to the CSF following the Northern Trust in 2018.

For the current academic year, two caddies from Ridgewood CC are receiving scholarships, including Timothy Horan, a sophomore at Auburn University, and Nicholas Kislowski, a senior at Syracuse University.

“Our caddies are part of the fabric of the club. We are happy that they receive support for continuing their education,” Ramsey said.

The caddie program at Ridgewood CC is supervised by Director of Outside Operations, Brian Farrelly, with the strong support of Director of Golf, David Reasoner, and the entire golf staff.

“We are very pleased to be named the winner of this award, especially this year. The caddie program is so very important to our membership at Ridgewood and goes back for many years since the beginning of the club,” Farrelly said. “When the 2020 season started, we weren’t sure if the caddie program would return, and for it to thrive and return during this pandemic is a credit to our members for their commitment and dedication to ensuring our program remained strong.

“Our membership continues to support the Caddie Scholarship Foundation and looks forward to continuing this tradition in the future.”
