Scenes From The Mid-amateur Championship

The 24th NJSGA Mid-Amateur Championship opened on Monday, May 7th with the first two rounds of match play in this five round event. In a brisk and cold wind on the 6,734 yard layout at Eagle Oaks Golf Club in Farmingdale, eight players remain standing after the first day’s play from the original field of 32 players. Defending Champion Allan Small turned in two outstanding performances, besting John Lovett, the 2006 Men’s Public Links Champion, and Ron Vannelli, the 2005 NJSGA Player of the Year, each by a 5&4 margin.

Advancing to the quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 8th are:

Allan Small v. Mike Paduano
Rob Habeeb v. Brian Komline
Michael Deo v. Jay Blumenfeld
Louis Giovi v. Harris Podvey
